Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, union;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy,

Grant that we may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Attributed to St. Francis of Assisi

Prayer for Hope

With God there is no such thing as a hopeless situation. We pray that God would bring hope to all, that we might see that God's love is stronger than any evil and Jesus' blood more powerful than any foe.

Prayer for God's Presence for All

In the midst even of this terrible tragedy, Jesus calls us to a higher level of living. Yes, we care called to pray for our enemies and those who would do us harm. We pray for those who espouse hatred rather than love. We pray for those whose anger burns so deeply they cannot see God's love. We pray that God would touch the lives of those who would do such unspeakable evil that they too might understand the love of God.
